Arsenal favourites to land £64m-rated Real Madrid star Isco

Arsenal have emerged as the early front-runners to land Real Madrid midfielder Isco this January, despite a transfer fee of £64m being quoted by some news sources, according to the latest odds from Ladbrokes.

The north London club are 7/2 to land the Spaniard despite reports of a club record fee for the 22-year-old who is rumoured to be attracting similar interest from several other Premier League sides keen on recruiting the playmaker.

Manchester City currently sit second in the betting at 5/1 while cross-town rivals Manchester United are available at 16/1 with the bookmaker.

Chelsea, who have been linked with a move for Isco despite the presence of Cesc Fabregas in the heart of their midfield, are available at 20/1 with Ladbrokes while Liverpool’s hopes of recruiting the player as a potential replacement for Steven Gerard look slim with the Reds not even quoted a price.

This latest development comes as the bookmaker stopped taking bets on Wilfried Bony moving to Manchester City with the Ivorian in discussion with the Etihad club over a deal.

The transfer is unlikely to be completed until the conclusion of the African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea this month but the Swansea striker appears to be edging ever-closer to a Sky Blues switch.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said said:”The Bony market has been pulled promptly with the deal now looking certain. As for Isco, Arsenal are in the hunt but punters are still of the opinion that the club may baulk at the proposed fee.”

The Gunners also look the favourites to sign Southampton’s want-away midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin according to Ladbrokes.

Tottenham had looked to be the front-runners to sign the Frenchman but Arsenal’s rumoured interest coupled with the presence of manager Arsene Wenger has seen their north London rivals move to 6/1 in the betting with Spurs back at 14/1.

The Emirates club are also the front-runners in both the Sami Khedira and Winston Reid transfer markets currently being offered by the bookmaker.
