3 men more likely to sign for Spurs following Chelsea mauling

Tottenham’s startling 5-3 win at home to Chelsea not only saw the Lilywhites cut to 4/1 to reach the top four this term, it also means boss Mauricio Pochettino will head into January feeling supremely confident of picking up some key transfer targets.
Everton midfielder James McCarthy is the latest name linked with a winter-window move to White Hart Lane, which seemed impossible at the start of the campaign, yet must be given some credence given his current club’s dreadful form.
The Toffees lost just twice in 14 all-competition outings with McCarthy in the side prior to the Republic of Ireland international’s hamstring injury in late November. During the six games he missed, they avoided defeat only twice.
Pochettino is thought to be a long-term admirer of the 24-year-old, who is sure to cost £25m-plus if Roberto Martinez can be persuaded to do business.
Another Premier League performer reportedly on the Argentine’s radar is Burnley’s Danny Ings, whose contract at Turf Moor is up this summer.
Ings has stated he doesn’t wish to leave Burnley in January, but the club’s hand may be forced if a bid of around £10m comes in for the England Under-21 striker, who impressed during Sean Dyche’s side’s unlucky 2-1 loss away to Spurs just before Xmas.
An even more ambitious raid by the north Londoners for Swansea forward Wilfired Bony has also been mooted in recent days, although the Ivory Coast international is not shy of suitors.
Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and now Real Madrid are all thought to be eyeing Bony, who is one goal short of a one-in-two strike rate since signing on at the Liberty Stadium 18 months ago.
The one advantage Spurs may hold in this race is iron-clad guaranteed first-team football, with only Harry Kane showing form up front for Pochettino this term, whereas the aforementioned quartet all have options in their front lines.
