Watford v Wolves: Goal-hungry home experts primed for success

Published:

Kenny Jackett’s Wolverhampton Wanderers may have gone unbeaten in their past couple of fixtures, but only one win since late October sees them off the play-off pace in the Championship, after a promising start following promotion in May.

The former Millwall boss heads back down south to take on Watford next, with the three punts below rated the best around at Vicarage Road.

Watford to win @ 9/10

The Hornets have been in and out of form themselves of late, having endured a four-game losing streak in November, but are back in fine fettle with three wins in their past three fixtures.

Narrow recent losses against Derby and Cardiff were Watford’s first couple of reverses at home in the league since the final day of last season, and they’ve won six of 11 Championship matches at Vicarage Road this term, so a fourth victory on the spin for Slavisa Jokanovic’s men gets our nod.

Troy Deeney to score two or more goals @ 6/1

The 26-year-old proven second-tier goalscorer is in ferocious form, with five in his last three matches by way of a hat-trick in the 5-0 thrashing of Fulham away and a brace last time out at home to Wigan.

At 6/1, there’s plenty to like about getting behind Deeney to bag his 10th and 11th (at least) Championship goals of 2014/15

Draw HT/Watford FT @ 4/1

After putting the game to bed at the break when 3-0 up at home to Fulham, Jokanovic’s charges took their time about claiming six points from their last two games.

Deeney’s 82nd-minute winner against the Latics came after the sides were level at half-time, while Almen Abdi’s only goal of the match away to Reading at the weekend was scored with only 20 left on the clock.

It has been all-square when the punters queued for pies and Bovril in half of Watford’s past six home games, as it was in Wolves’ last road fixture at Sheffield Wednesday, so this double result looks the way to play on the outskirts of London.
