Strictly Come Dancing: TOWIE star Mark Wright set to face the boot

Published:

He might have been saved by the judges last week but it appears Mark Wright is on borrowed time on Strictly Come Dancing, with the dancefloor action really hotting up.

The TOWIE star is 2/5 favourite to be the next celebrity to be thrown out of the ballroom, and it’s easy to see why.

His salsa last week received what is, at this stage of the competition, a lukewarm reaction from the judges, and the public weren’t keen either.

But in the dance off, it seemed a best of a bad bunch situation (relatively speaking) when he came up against fellow also-ran Sunetra Sarker.

Wright was saved that day, but this looks likely to be the week he has to face the inevitable.

He is well ahead of the nearest challenger atop the ‘Tenth Elimination’ market, with Simon Webbe next at 6/1.

The Blue star has been a revelation recently, with just one score of eight or below being handed out to him in the last three weeks.

And after his impressive Waltz last Saturday, his next dance, the American Smooth, could be right up his alley to do well again and belittle his 8/1 odds of lifting the Glitterball Trophy.

But realistically, it looks like girl power will prevail in the final in two weeks, with a price of 2/5 that we see back-to-back female winners of Strictly for the first time since the opening two series.

Of the girls, Pixie Lott stands as 15/8 favourite, with Frankie Bridge at 11/4 and perennial dark-horse Caroline Flack at 11/2.

Pixie, alongside her partner Trent Whiddon will perform the Cha Cha this week, a type of dance that could well play to the singer’s strengths having already enthralled in the Samba and Rumba.

Backing the ‘Mama Do’ popstar now could be a wise move, with any more show-stopping performances likely to see her price shorten.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
