Spurs v Palace: Kane to fire first in much-needed home win

Published:

Tottenham received a dressing down over at points graveyard Stamford Bridge in midweek, but the Lilywhites can banish the memory with the visit of Crystal Palace, who fell 1-0 to Aston Villa at home on the same night.

Spurs are given clear favourites’ status for the win at 4/7, the draw is a 3/1 chance and the Eagles are the outsiders according to their 9/2 odds.

We envisage a closely fought tussle at White Hart Lane, with Tottenham edging it as part of our three best bets.

Harry Kane to score first @ 7/2

Having beaten Thibaut Courtois, but not the framework of his goal during the first five minutes at the Bridge, Kane then came within a yard or so of making amends when flashing another shot just wide.

The game could have been so different had Spurs’ new hero found the net, though Kane’s mini goal drought of three – his joint longest of the season so far – is set to end when Palace visit, on the evidence of his livewire performance at Chelsea.

Tottenham to win by one goal @ 27/10

Only their next visitors and West Brom have lost as many games as the four Tottenham have at home under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the 2-1 defeat of Everton on their last Lane appearance was vital to start turning the tide and Palace have fared particularly badly against other London sides so far this season, losing all three.

Spurs had been on a three-game winning streak until they travelled to Chelsea and seeing as all five of their previous victories in all competitions arrived by the one-goal margin, it is a great bet to land again.

Both teams to score: yes @ 4/5

Of Tottenham’s various flaws, it is their ability to gift opponents soft goals which is bound to rile Pochettino the most.

The home side’s last Premier League clean sheet came seven games ago, lending enough weight to a wager on Palace also finding the onion bag.
