Former Spurs boss in the frame to replace Hyypia at Brighton

He divided opinion as Tottenham’s interim manager last season, but Tim Sherwood’s no-frills approach could be just what floundering Brighton are looking for.
The Seagulls are in a Championship tail-spin and despite only being appointed in June, manager Sami Hyypia has decided he’s not the man to halt it.
The former Liverpool and Finland defender ran out of ideas on the south coast, having only overseen a single win in 18 league games as Brighton boss.
With the perennial play-off hopefuls now sucked into the relegation places, their 150/1 odds for promotion paint a grim picture of Hyppia’s ill-fated stint.
Given Brighton’s state-of-the-art Amex Stadium and proximity to London however, this is a club that won’t struggle to attract big names to replace him, who had been in charge of Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League previously.
Since being forced out of the White Hart Lane dug-out, Sherwood has maintained he is looking for a way back into management and it is his name alongside that of Tony Pulis which are doing the rounds.
Encouragingly for Brighton’s owners, Sherwood’s impact when handed the Lilywhites’ reigns was instant.
The former Blackburn midfielder changed the tactics pursued by his predecessor immediately and Spurs went onto pick up seven wins from his first 10 league games.
With Brighton’s last three-point haul arriving some seven games ago – against fellow drop-zone occupants Wigan – such a response is exactly what the Championship’s 22nd place side require.
Where Hyppia has been accused of a softly-softly approach, Sherwood’s straight-talking could be the remedy to arrest this dangerous slump.
