QPR form puts Austin among Premier League’s most wanted this January

Charlie Austin may have not only played his way into the England squad but also a big money January move, according to Ladbrokes.

The 25-year-old is now just 11/4 with the bookmaker to leave QPR this January, following Saturday’s match-winning hat-trick against West Bromwich Albion at Loftus Road – a result that saw the Rs move out of the relegation zone.

Signed from Burnley at a snip for a reported £4m back in August 2013, Austin has just 18 months left on his contract with the London club and Rangers could yet decide to cash-in on the striker’s fine form.

The former Swindon Town favourite has scored 11 goals in 15 Premier League outings so far this term in a return that will have not only rival clubs weighing up a move for the striker but also England manager Roy Hodgson.

Overlooked for previous Three Lions squads, Austin’s form makes another snub highly unlikely with Ladbrokes backing the former non-league star to earn a call-up to the next squad at 9/4.

And even if he fails to get the nod from Roy next time out, the bookmaker is backing the 25-year-old at 9/2 to earn an England cap at some point in the future.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Austin is the talk of the town at the moment and we’re not ruling out a January move. The odds also suggest his recent form makes him a live contender for the next England squad regardless of club.”

The striker will need to be at his very best this Boxing Day with QPR visiting Arsenal and on a mission to pick up their first points of the season on the road in the Premier League.

However their impressive record at Loftus Road could well come into play again over the busy festive period with Rangers hosting Crystal Palace and Swansea in front of their own fans.
