Price Boost: Chelsea to win and both teams to score gets a hike

Published:

So far, Chelsea’s season in all competitions has been consistently impressive. One loss in 25 is pretty good reading, but they are by no means perfect.

On the road especially the Blues have a far from exemplary record, particularly when it comes to keeping their opposition at bay, which makes the price boost Ladbrokes have handed out for the game an extremely intriguing one.

The bookie has gone 3/1, out from 5/2*, that Chelsea take victory away from Stoke in their next Premier League outing, but both teams manage to find the net, a price that’s well worth backing.

Jose Mourinho’s side have won eight of their 13 away games in all competitions this term, four of which have come in the Premier League, but have only managed three clean sheets, of which only one has been in the top-flight.

Of those eight road wins, six would have seen a bet on a Blues victory and both teams scoring land a profit, stats that make the 3/1 on a seventh outcome of this nature far more likely than the price suggests.

Under Mark Hughes, Stoke are no longer a stodgy, goal-shy outfit and only two teams have turned up to the Britannia Stadium in the league this season and resisted the Potters’ attacking intentions.

Both of those shutouts occurred in the opening five games of the season and since then Hughes’ red and white wearers are six-games deep into a scoring streak at home.

While their attacking intent certainly warrants this price boost as a backable one, their defensive record goes further to accommodate the punter, with all of the last five games to be played at Stoke seeing both teams find the back of the net.

The only statistic standing in the way of what seems a certain windfall is the head-to-head record, which has recorded just two battles with goals at both ends in the last 12 tussles in all competitions.
