Palace striker could provide Leicester or Burnley vital firepower

Despite scoring six times this season Dwight Gayle cannot get a regular run in Neil Warnock’s Crystal Palace side and with January approaching the situation hasn’t gone unnoticed by Leicester and Burnley.
Both of Palace’s Premier League survival rivals have identified Gayle’s frustration as a potential vehicle to pinch the £5m-rated poacher.
The former Peterborough hotshot has been forced to come off the bench in six of 10 top-flight appearances this season, leaving the 24-year-old to question his Eagles future.
Gayle has scored on two of his four league starts, including a third goal in two games against Liverpool, while also firing in a Capital One Cup hat-trick against Walsall.
Leicester, who sit five points adrift of safety, are priced at 13/10 to stay up and desperately short of proven goalscorers, managing to net only four times in their last nine games.
The Foxes have also been heavily linked with Toronto striker Jermain Defoe, now in the off-season for his MLS employers.
Only Leonardo Ulloa has shown any acumen in front of the onion bag en-route to six league goals, but the Argentine cannot be relied upon solely if Leicester are to start climbing the table.
Burnley are slightly better off in 17th meanwhile, although the Clarets are heavily dependent on England U21 star Danny Ings netting the majority of their goals.
While Ings’ exploits are vital to Burnley’s 11/8-rated hopes of beating the drop, the striker could be the subject of January bids as the big teams come sniffing.
Managing to purchase Gayle would offer a much-needed insurance policy at Turf Moor, though in an ideal world Sean Dyche would have both forwards available to bolster his skinny squad.
