Man Utd shade a shambolic defence in Liverpool combined XI

Published:

The likes of Alan Hansen and Gary Pallister would turn a pale shade of grey at the cobbled-together defence in our latest Manchester United and Liverpool mix and match.

However, we feel we’ve done the best we could with the available, fit performers for the big televised Sunday clash based on current form.

The Red Devils entertain their greatest historical foes sitting pretty in third despite not playing anything like well, while the Champions League-reject Reds are a pallid imitation of the side which left Old Trafford in silence thanks to a 3-0 win last season.

Louis van Gaal’s charges are warm 4/5 favourites to banish the memory with a sixth consecutive Premier League win, while the draw is a 14/5 shot and Liverpool 10/3-chances for victory.

As you’ll see from our fairly evenly split combined XI between the sides, there really isn’t too much to choose between these behemoths of the English game undergoing transitional seasons.

By the look of the defence though, both teams scoring at odds of 2/3 might just be the bet of the contest.
