Who killed Lucy Beale? Ian Beale has a history of lying to save his skin

Christmas is here and we are bracing ourselves for a major development in the Who Killed Lucy Beale? storyline, and one man who continues to hover around the top of the market is none other than Lucy’s father Ian.

While executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins claims just four people know who actually killed Lucy, that hasn’t stopped certain cast members pointing their fingers at the show’s longest running character, who is currently a 7/1 shot.

Even his own son is pointing the finger, with Ben Hardy (who plays Lucy’s twin Peter) saying:

“My own personal theory is that it’s Ian Beale.

“I’m 100 per cent sure of that. But I’m almost afraid to say it in case I get it right and the writers change it. I think it was either manslaughter or an accident.”

And now Danny Dyer, who plays Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter is looking Ian’s way.

“Unfortunately I think it’s Ian. That’s my guess. It would be an accident, completely, but it has to be massive as the story has been stretched out so long,” he told the Radio Times.

But would a man capable of this performance, do such a thing?

Well, the man everyone has loved to hate down the years has been shown to be deceitful in the aftermath of Lucy’s death.

When his alibi that he was at the restaurant on the night his daughter was killed was revealed to be untrue, he went to some lengths to keep his secret.

Beale was, in fact, with junkie prostitute Rainie Cross, a lie that was discovered by Patrick Trueman.

And when Patrick suffered a stroke, Ian was quick to suggest putting him in a care home to keep his secret for just that little bit longer.

He even went to the extreme of paying Rainie for her silence, and has since seen Mick take the rap for soliciting when he followed Beale to a meeting with the drug-addict sister of Tanya Branning.
