I’m a Celebrity: Mel and Edwina’s row doing no favours for either of them

Published:

Another eviction, another shock, as the well supported Michael Buerk left the camp on Wednesday night, much to the journalist’s delight.

Buerk had been subject to plenty of support to win the show, being clipped in from 9/1 to 7/1 prior to his exit, but alas it appears it wasn’t enough to save him.

He might have picked a good time to get out with Mel Sykes on the war path again, this time picking a formidable foe in former politician Edwina Currie.

The pair became embroiled in a row about whether a woman needs a man around, stemming from the decision to send Carl Fogarty to take part in the bushtucker trial (which he claimed full honours in, incidentally).

Edwina appears to have been the big loser in the argument if the odds are to be believed, with her chance of being crowned Queen of the Jungle pushed out from 8/1 to 12/1.

Sykes, meanwhile, may become a victim of her own tenacity with her odds nudged out again from 5/2 to 3/1.

But the big mover is Carl Fogarty. If the Superbike ace continues to receive this level of support from punters it won’t be long before he is favourite to win the show.

Despite fears that Jimmy Bullard’s early elimination may cause Fogarty to lose some of his energy, he has become a popular figure at Snake Rock, almost taking Jimmy’s mantle of camp joker.

At 2/1 (from 7/2) it won’t be long before the Lancastrian is challenging Jake Quickenden (7/4) for favouritism.

As the evictions continue at full throttle, there are a couple of familiar names at top of the betting to go next.

Vicki Michelle (6/4) and Kendra Wilkinson (13/8) seem to be finding support from somewhere, but as the contestants get whittled down it is surely imminent that one of them receives their marching orders.
