For all those football hipsters out there, the Europa League must rank higher of the two Uefa club competitions on offer, as it provides a chance to get to know some of the continent’s more outlandish sides.

While it may be nice to see the likes of Cyprus’ Apollon Limassol, Belgium’s Lokeren and Croatia’s Rijeka all in action during the mid-week action, there’s nothing like getting to know a successful cult side and two in particular are ticking that box.

Guingamp, of Ligue 1 in France, and Denmark’s AaB are rated as 66/1 and 200/1 shots to win the competition respectively, but both are on the cusp of the knockout stages should results go their way.

The French side, who sit three points off the relegation zone in their domestic league, need just a draw with PAOK in their final Group K match to progress to the next round, while the Danes require either a victory against Rio Ave or Steaua Bucharest to lose to achieve their ambition.

Neither side are particularly mind-blowing in front of goal, but rather accumulate their points through strong organisation, like true hipster sides should.

Aalborg, who are unbeaten at home in the competition thus far, have scored all five of their group-phase goals infront of their own fans. Should they collect their first points on the road in the competition this season they will book a first place in knockout European football since 2008/09.

Guingamp, who qualified for the competition by winning the Coupe de France last season, would enter the knockout rounds for the first time in their history if they seal a first road Europa League win of the season in Greece.
