Derby v Norwich: Rams to get back on track at Pride Park

Published:

It hasn’t been a wonderful week for Steve McLaren’s Derby side, as they lost top spot in the Championship by losing 2-0 to Middlesbrough before crashing out of the Capital One Cup to Chelsea.

The Rams are still in third place, and have the chance to go back to the top of England’s second tier for a short while at least by winning this lunchtime fixture against Norwich.

The Canaries have won back-to-back games, but we fancy McLaren’s side to get the job done at Pride Park, with a home victory the first of our three best bets for the match.

Derby to win @ 11/10

The Rams have lost three out of their past four in all competitions, but the only home defeat among those was against Chelsea, who look the best side in England this season.

Their Championship form at Pride Park is good, winning their past three and scoring 11 goals in the process, and they’ve only lost one league game at home all season.

Meanwhile Norwich have been poor on the road of late, losing three of their past five away matches.

Over 2.5 goals @ 5/6

This is set to be a fixture plump with goalmouth action, as both teams have been involved in plenty of high-scoring encounters of late.

Eight of Derby’s last 10 in all competitions have seen at least three strikes, including each of their past five at home, while six of the Canaries’ previous seven games have gone over the 2.5 goals mark.

Furthermore, each of the past five matches between the pair have also involved three or more goals.

Derby to score the first goal @ 8/11

The Rams have made a habit of starting quickly in their recent league games at Pride Park, opening the scoring in the 10th, 16th and seventh minute against Brighton, Wolves and Huddersfield respectively.

In fact, Derby have scored first in eight of their 10 Championship home games during this season, while Norwich have gone behind in four of their last seven away matches.
