Au revoir Henry! Poll puts Rangers hero in mix for Monaco all-time XI

As a Glasgow Rangers player Dado Prso played a key role in the Gers capturing a Scottish Premier League and Scottish League Cup double but he is probably best remembered for his time at previous club AS Monaco – or that’s what one online poll would have you believe.

The Croatian was with the Principality club for five years, winning their last Ligue 1 title in 2000 and helping the club reach the final of the Champions League in 2004 where they duly lost to Jose Mourinho’s Porto.

But while the three-time Croatian footballer of the year enjoyed a fine career, Monaco fans may be somewhat surprised to hear that the target man is currently leading the way in an online poll hosted by the club’s website to uncover the AS Monaco all-time XI.

It’s a surprising development when you consider he’s up against not only Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet but similarly formidable foes in the form of Sonny Anderson, Fernando Morientes and Marco Simeone.

According to online rumours the flurry of votes for Prso was prompted by a collective of Croatian fans looking to skew the vote in favour of their countryman.

But with time running out, several fans are appealing for others to vote for the likes of Henry and Trezeguet to avoid seeing Prso in the final line-up.

This online sabotage is not the first of its kind to occur with Liverpool supporters previously accused of sabotaging an online Manchester United player of the year award so that the eventual victor was referee Howard Webb.

But with time running out Rangers fans may yet be tempted to back the man who brought silverware to Ibrox during his three-year stay at the club.

Then again, they may want to back the likes of Morientes and Anderson just to avoid seeing the Croat immortalised online.
