AC Milan striker unlikely to solve Aston Villa’s goals shortage

Reports suggesting AC Milan striker Giampaolo Pazzini will be paraded in front of lower-placed Premier League clubs such as Aston Villa in January, is hardly surprising.
Pazzini’s sum total of Rossoneri goals in the last two seasons stands at three, while he’s yet to find the net in six substitute appearances during 2014/15.
As a result the Serie A big boys are looking to hawk out the 30-year-old international on loan, citing struggling English clubs as fair game to offload the misfiring forward on.
However, if Paul Lambert has any sense he will resist the urge to supplement his current Villa strikeforce with the Italy international.
Despite going on a desperate autumn run, and scoring the lowest amount of top-flight goals, Villa have turned a corner as the days have grown shorter.
The Villans’ first win in ten league games against Crystal Palace maintained a four-match unbeaten streak and lifted them up to 12th, four points above the current danger zone.
A goal for Christian Benteke to seal the three points bodes well as a return to form for the Belgian can help facilitate the desired top-half finish, rated at 9/2 following the Palace victory.
With Gabby Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann capable wingmen for a fully-firing Benteke, the need for a veteran striker in poor form is minimal.
What is more, Lambert already has a proven Premier League marksman on the books, who served a timely reminder of his abilities in his first appearance on loan.
Darren Bent bagged on his Brighton debut at the start of a month spell at the Amex, and reintegrating their record signing would be a far better option than taking a Pazzini gamble.
