West Ham v Aston Villa: Losing run to continue for Villans in London
As they approached the final 10 minutes of their tie against Tottenham, Aston Villa fans must have been thinking they were in for an upturn in their fortunes, how wrong they were.
But with Spurs bagging two late goals, Villa were confined to their fifth straight defeat, and saw them fall ever closer to the relegation zone.
Next up is a visit to West Ham, who fought back from a dodgy start against Stoke, and may be seen as potentially coming back down to earth following a blistering start.
However, unfortunately for Villa fans, we can only see this going one way with our three bets picked to deliver each favouring the hosts.
As previously mentioned, Paul Lambert’s side have now lost their last six games, and scored just single goal in that run.
And with leading man Christian Benteke set for a spell on the sidelines, things don’t look likely to improve any time soon.
Despite their wobble at the hands of the Potters, West Ham are now five games unbeaten, winning four, and look in a strong position to continue the run without a loss.
With just one goal in their last six, it’s pretty clear; the visitors are terrible when it comes to topping up that ‘For’ column in the league table.
They have however, been excellent at gifting an early lead to their hosts of late, conceding the opening goal of the game in the first 18 minutes against QPR, Everton and Chelsea.
The Hammers have demonstrated that they know how to start brightly in front of their own fans this season, and in fact, this bet has delivered in each of West Ham’s last four matches at Upton Park.
You know the old adage; ‘if ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, well that certainly applies here.
Having missed out on the trip to Stoke through injury, Sakho will be gunning to continue the impressive record that has seen him score in each of his first six Premier League matches for Sam Allardyce’s side.
And with Andy Carroll breathing down his neck on his way back from injury, the Senegalese striker knows that he must keep up his current form in order to maintain a regular starting berth when the big man is fully fit.
