West Brom v Newcastle: Berahino to celebrate England call

Published:

As almost no-one predicted, Newcastle have roared back into top form over the past couple of weeks, winning four games in a row in all competitions.

Leicester, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Liverpool have all been pecked to death by the resurgent Magpies, who now fly to West Brom in confident mood.

The visitors are 2/1 to win at the Hawthorns, with a Baggies win priced at 13/10 and the draw 12/5, but we’ve avoided the match markets entirely in our three best bets for the game.

Newcastle to score first @ 11/10

Whatever the final result, the Magpies have acquired a habit of drawing first blood when they play West Brom, bagging the opener in four of the pair’s past five meetings.

They’ve also scored first in three of their last four matches in all competitions, while West Brom have gone behind in three of their past five.

Saido Berahino to score at any time @ 8/5

The young striker was recently named in Roy Hodgson’s England squad due to his fantastic form, and the bulk of the goals Berahino has been netting have come at home.

The 21-year-old has scored five goals in his past four games at the Hawthorns in all competitions, and six of the seven he has notched in the league have been in front of his own fans.

Over 2.5 goals @ 5/6

Four of West Brom’s five home games this season have seen four goals scored, with their 2-0 loss to Everton the only match that went under the 2.5 strikes mark.

For their part, four of Newcastle’s last six away games in all competitions have involved at least three goals.

The pair are also a reliable source of net-ripplers when they play each other, as eight of their past 10 meetings have gone over 2.5 goals.
