Wales v Australia: North among tryscorers in a Wallabies win

Published:

After racking up nine wins in a row against Wales, Australia head into Saturday’s meeting at the Millennium Stadium as firm favourites for victory.

Ladbrokes has priced the Wallabies up at 8/13 to win while the hosts can be backed at 11/8 with the bookmaker, while 18/1 is available on the match being a draw.

Ahead of what is sure to be another tasty encounter between these two powerhouses of sport, we’ve picked out three great bets to get you in the mood for the match to come.

Australia winning margin 1-5 points @ 5/1

Despite Australia’s dominant record over the Welsh, recent contests between the two teams have finished up as relatively tight affairs with each of the previous four meetings seeing Australia win by a margin of between one and five points.

Warren Gatland was in charge for the most recent of these – a 30-26 loss in Cardiff last year – and it stands to reason that this could be another close call – though one that ultimately goes in the favour of the antipodeans.

Australia/Australia @ 11/10

With many predicting a dominant Australia display it could pay to hedge your bets by backing the Wallabies to be winning at half-time and full-time in this encounter, particularly given the enticing odds on such an outcome.

After all, Australia have gone in ahead at the break in each of the previous five meetings between the teams and there is little to suggest a similar story won’t play out here.

George North to score a try at anytime @ 2/1

If anyone is to get among the try scoring for Wales, it’s George North, with the Northampton man crossing the line twice when these two met in Cardiff last year.

More importantly still, the 22-year-old is in fine form having scored four tries for the Saints in their recent 34-6 victory over the Ospreys in the European Cup last month.
