Strictly Come Dancing: 10’s the magic number in Blackpool
It was a night of huge thrills, spills and expletives (Sorry Len!) as Strictly Come Dancing packed its bags and headed up the M6 to Blackpool for its annual night of action in the world famous Tower Ballroom.
While it was a show full of high quality dancing, no one told us Donny Osmond-itis was going to strike the judges as they went on to hand out eight perfect scores of 10.
Here Oliver Yew reviews the acts to hit the heights in the north west and gives you their latest odds to win the BBC One show…
All Rise for Blue star Simon Webbe and his partner Kristina Rihanoff after their Argentine Tango – the first of the series – propelled them to the top of the leaderboard for the first time.
This intricate number earned them a score of 38 and three perfect ten scores from Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman and Bruno Tollioni.
The passionate routine even caused Len to swear live on air so it must have been good!
The pop princess is now the 5/2 joint favourite alongside Frankie Bridge after her Paso Doble lit up the Tower Ballroom floor and earned rave reviews from the judges.
Pixie and partner Trent scored 38 out of a possible 40 to join Simon at the top of the charts and received two perfect 10s from Len and Bruno.
After her performances of the last few weeks, Pixie looks the one to beat!
TV Presenter Caroline Flack bounced back from the bottom two last weekend to score 37 for her Jive and pick up her first 10 of the series from Bruno!
Flack’s energetic, crisp performance with Pasha Kovalev was enough to see her move into third position on the leaderboard and back into the race for the Glitterball trophy!
The Saturdays star must have thought she had top spot in the bag in Blackpool after opening the show with a score of 37 for her Quickstep.
Little did they know the 10s would keep flowing from the judges and they would end up in fourth place behind Simon, Pixie and Caroline.
But that hasn’t affected the fact Frankie, alongside partner Kevin Clifton, is still the 5/2 joint favourite to win the show after one of the best Quicksteps of the series so far!
