Slumping Leicester remain great relegation bet ahead of fixture gauntlet

Published:

Remember that dramatic, jaw-dropping victory Leicester secured over Manchester United earlier this season, the one that spoke so much about the Red Devils’ woes and the Foxes’ optimism of staying in the top flight? It seems like a long time ago now, doesn’t it?

Well, that is because it was a long time ago. Eight games ago to be exact and it also represents the last time Leicester won.

Since that 5-3 jubilation, Nigel Pearson’s men have collected just two more points and have slid from the security of seventh place after that Man Utd triumph, to rock bottom following their thrilling-but-futile 3-2 loss to relegation rivals QPR.

The winless run still hasn’t been enough to convince Ladbrokes to make the Foxes relegation favourites, a tag they reserve for Burnley, and instead make Leicester 5/4 for the drop, a price that rates them as better survival hopefuls than the team that just turned them over.

That price is looking like low-hanging fruit and will surely jolt skywards and out of reach after a run of fixtures that Pearson must be fearing plays out.

Leicester face Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham over the course of the next five games and will surely gain little in the way of momentum leading up to the Christmas fixture flurry (of which the Spurs clash is the first) in that time.

By then, the current chubby price offered on a KC Stadium relegation will have shrunk like a gastric-band-assisted waistline, making it a wise move to get on now before it’s too late.
