Redmond on Stoke’s radar as duo set for exit at the Britannia

Stoke City look to be still firmly in the race to snap up sought after Norwich winger Nathan Redmond, as they prepare to strengthen in January.

The Potters will face stiff competition for the former Birmingham man’s signature with the likes of Southampton rumoured to also be interested, but would probably be able to guarantee him more game time.

The 20-year-old has been a mainstay in a Canaries side that are continuing their push for a play-off position, and won’t be let go of lightly.

Mark Hughes is reported to be in the market for another wide man with Victor Moses is likely to be off to the Africa Cup of Nations in January, while Oussama Assaidi and Jonathan Walters have yet to nail down any consistent form this season.

And in order to fund a swoop for the England under 21 international, Sparky could be set for a mini clearout at the Britannia Stadium.

Labelled a flop by some, Wilson Palacios has made just 14 Premier League starts for the Potters since his £6m transfer three years ago, and could be set for an exit sooner rather than later.

It is rumoured that Stoke are prepared to cut their losses on the Honduran and allow him to leave on a free transfer in January to free up his reported £26,000 a week wages.

Another who hasn’t set the world alight since his move to Staffordshire is Marko Arnautovic.

The Austrian showed some glimpses of promise last season, getting on the scoresheet four times and setting up seven goals in the league, but has since fallen out of favour with the manager.

It now looks likely that the interest from Feyenoord over an initial loan in January could come to fruition.

Arnautovic worked under current Trots van Zuid boss Fred Rutten when the pair were at FC Twente, so know each other well.

And if the Potters can offload some of their apparent deadwood, they could well be in line to snap up a highly rated English youngster in the window.
