NBA: Why the Pelicans, Magic and Nets make it onto our betslip

Published:

With another day comes another chance to make a buck or two on the NBA, with the below three bets rated the best chances of a windfall from the nine games on the schedule this evening:

New Orleans Pelicans to score over 109.5 points v LA Lakers @ 5/6

108, 119, 118, 127, 112, 92 and 107. They are the points totals various NBA teams have dropped on the sorry Lakers this season, a run of fixtures that has secured the LA side the worst defense in the league so far.

The Pelicans are a middle-of-the-pack offensive unit, but should have no problem torching Kobe Bryant’s side with Anthony Davis, who has scored less than 24 points just once so far, leading the way.

Orlando Magic (+6.0) to beat New York Knicks @ 10/11

The Magic have lost four of their five games on the road this season and have dropped four straight against at Madison Square Garden.

However, only one team has a bigger losing streak in the NBA than the one the Knicks currently own and their dire 91.1 points-per-game scoring average will make clawing back this handicap an insurmountable task.

Brooklyn Nets to beat Phoenix Suns @ 19/10

When two free-flowing offenses meet, the side that owns the better defense usually prevails. So, rather than look to the points totals when the Nets take their 4-2 record to Arizona, back them to leave with the win instead.

Brooklyn are the fourth-highest scoring team in the league, with the Suns not too far behind in seventh.

However, when points differential (which subtracts the average points-allowed-per-game from points scored) the Nets put considerable distance between themselves and the Suns, finishing games 6.5 points better off on average, compared to Phoenix’s 0.4.
