Published:

Poland have put themselves in the driving seat for qualification from Group D after beating World Champions Germany for the first time 2-0 and holding Scotland to a 2-2 draw last time out but how much do we know about the current squad?

Ahead of the Republic of Ireland on goal difference at the top of the standings and on course for a place at Euro 2016, with Ladbrokes offering 11/2 on them winning the group, it’s worth finding out more about them and some of the other stars besides Robert Lewandowski.

Grzegorz Krychowiak

The 24-year-old has only just arrived at Sevilla after signing with the club from Ligue 1 side Reims last summer but after impressing in La Liga and the Europa League, as well as on international duty, the defensive midfielder has already been linked with a move to Arsenal and looks set for big things.

Arkadiusz Milik

Currently on loan at Ajax from Bayer Leverkusen, the 20-year-old striker has already ensured his own legendary status after netting Poland’s opening goal in their first-ever win over Germany. He’s already racked up 13 goals in 11 games for the current Eredivisie champions and is one to watch.

Piotr Zielinski

The Pozzo family have made a habit of unearthing gems at Udinese over the years, with Alexis Sanchez and Juan Cuadrado making their names at the club. Zielinski could be the next big name to emerge. Only 20, the attacking midfielder is currently impressing on loan at Serie A side Empoli.

Michal Zyro

Zyro will be familiar to Celtic fans, who may recall the 22-year-old midfielder scoring in Legia Warsaw’s 4-1 win over the Bhoys in Champions League qualifying. The Poles were been kicked out of that competition but Zyro has continued to impress in the Europa League and is a solid impact sub.
