Manchester City v Swansea: On-song Aguero to add to his tally

Published:

Manchester City will be looking to breathe new life into their ailing Premier League title defence this weekend when they take on Swansea City at the Etihad and despite some poor form of late the Sky Blues should have enough to see off the visitors.

The Citizens are 4/11 to pick up what would be a fourth consecutive victory over the Swans on home soil, while a repeat of their stalemate with QPR two weeks ago can be backed at 4/1 with Ladbrokes.

Garry Monk’s team will be no walkovers though, having dispatched Arsenal 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium last time out and are 7/1 with the bookmakers ahead of kick-off.

But while the odds available on a Welsh win may tempt, we’ve got three alternative tips to help you make the most of this top-flight encounter.

Sergio Aguero to score two or more @ 7/2

Rudyard Kipling famously wrote: “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs…” and never has a truer verse been spoken with regards to Sergio Aguero and Manchester City.

While the Sky Blues continue to lurch from one disaster to the next, the Argentine still delivers, scoring two for the Citizens to help salvage a draw against QPR last time out.

That brace made it eight goals in his last five Premier League outings and we fancy the 26-year-old to add to his tally against a Swansea, who have shipped eight goals in three visits to the Etihad.

Manchester City to win to nil @ 13/10

While the Swans have made a habit of shipping goals aplenty on recent visits to Eastlands, they’ve also proven less-than-prolific when it comes to getting past Joe Hart on his own patch.

The Welsh club have failed to find the net in any of their previous three trips to the Etihad, games which have ended in defeat for Swansea each and every time.

And with Garry Monk’s team winless in five games on the road and fresh from failing to score against the likes of Everton and Sunderland, City look a good price to score a rare win and clean sheet combo.

Manchester City (-2) to beat Swansea @ 9/4

Having already dispatched Tottenham Hotspur in a hefty 4-1 win, it could pay to back a big City victory, given that two of their previous three home triumphs over Swansea in the top-flight have come by 3-0 and 4-0 scorelines.

With Aguero in fine scoring form and Manuel Pellegrini desperate for a reaction from his players following a recent run of poor results, the Swans could be in for a torrid time.
