I’m A Celebrity: We pick 5 of the best bushtucker trials

Published:

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! returns to our screens on Sunday night with the next batch of jungle celebrities in Australia and ready to take on the infamous bushtucker trial.

From 7/4 favourite Jimmy Bullard to 20/1 outsider Vicki Michelle, the contestants will have to face the horror of a trial at some point and to get you in the mood for the 2014 series we are scrolling through the jungle archives.

Here are a selection of our favourite bushtucker trials through the 13 series we have seen so far…

Paul Burrell – 2004

We start with Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell and the whimpering to end all whimpering!

Sticking his arm into holes in the rock face to grab stars might not seem too daunting but thrown in a bunch of creepy crawlies and moving “things” and it cranks up a notch.

But it was a whole new level for the terrified Burrell as he screamed and cried all the way into the I’m A Celeb history books – much to the amusement of Ant and Dec.

Dean Gaffney – 2006

The former Eastenders star walked straight into the jungle in 2006 and straight into a live bush tucker trial!

And what followed was pure TV gold as Gaffney failed to be “well-‘ard” and wailed like a baby during his Bush Spa trial alongside cockroaches, crocodiles and RATS!

Joe Swash – 2008

Everybody loves the eating challenge!

From Paul Burrell to Freddie Starr, there have been some classics over the years but top prize goes to another former Eastender in Joe Swash.

Witchetty grubs, kangaroo testicles and pure laughter was on the menu as Swash , horrifying digestive noises and all, struggled through – once again much to the amusement of the nation’s favourite pint-sized Geordie duo.

Swash did pick up a gig on the I’m A Celeb spin-off after his efforts so it wasn’t all for nothing!

Gilliam McKeith – 2010

If there’s one way to get out of a live bushtucker trial it’s faint on live television!

If only Robbie Jackson…I mean Dean Gaffney had known! After smuggling seasoning into the camp via her knickers, Gillian McKeith was always going to be a lively contestant and she failed to disappoint with a “dive” AshleyYoung would have been proud of!

Fatima Whitbread – 2011

The Olympic star probably never thought she would have a bug stuck in her nose when she was winning javelin medals for Team GB back in the 80s.

But that was exactly what happened during the 2011-edition of the hit ITV series as a cockroach crawled its way up into Fatima’s nose – much to the dismay of the caring Pat Sharp!

Thankfully everyone’s favourite jungle doctor Bob was on hand to help the Track and Field star get rid of her unwelcome guest!
