Hull looking to replicate Diame success with Udinese midfielder

When analysing the transfer business of Premier League clubs, it’s fair to say that Hull City sit near, if not at, the top of the pile for the signings Steve Bruce made during the sunnier months.
Michael Dawson, Abel Hernandez and Andrew Robertson have all impressed for the Tigers this season, but perhaps the biggest coup has been Senegalese powerhouse midfielder Mohamed Diame.
Signed from West Ham as a mobile, holding midfielder, Diame was transformed into a rampaging goal-scorer in a matter of games. With four goals in his first eight Premier League appearances for the club, there’s little doubt the Senegalese has ingratiated himself to Hull fans.
Despite working such wonders in the transfer window though, Bruce still finds his side as 7/2 relegation candidates, sat in 15th place in the table, just two points off the drop zone.
Such a position, down to defensive mistakes and inconsistency up front, could cause the former Manchester United captain to delve back into his pocket in the January sales, with Udinese’s Emmanuel Badu the target.
Built in the Diame mould, the Ghanaian would add another jot of dynamism to the Hull midfield and a dose of competition to a hitherto uncontested trio of Diame, Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore.
Having started seven of the Bianconeri’s 11 games this season, Badu is by no means the first name on the teamsheet at the Slovenian-bordered club and could well be let go should a financially-sound deal be presented.
The interest of Liverpool in the 49-cap international means that Hull must act quickly if the 23-year-old is their number one target.
