Hamilton v Rosberg: The numbers that really matter in Abu Dhabi

Published:

Barring mechanical interference, Formula One fans are in for one heck of a finale in Abu Dhabi as Mercedes’ hotshots Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg vie for the 2014 drivers’ world championship crown with double points adding extra spice to the theatre.

The permutations are lengthy, but put simply, if Hamilton finishes above his teammate he will scoop a second world title, while he can even afford to retire if Rosberg finishes outside the top five places thanks to a 17-point lead in the standings.

However, as Rosberg showed in Brazil last time out – with his first race win since claiming his home grand prix back in July – the German will be fully intent on repeating that trick in Abu Dhabi, whilst hoping Hamilton finishes outside the top two for the first time in seven races.

Judging by our Ladbrokes infographic on the stats that really separate these two feuding F1 aces, the 2/9 about Hamilton securing the title over 3/1 shot Rosberg looks like the way to go though.
