X Factor: Use your head and avoid picking Paul to leave
Published:It’s safe to say that the past week hasn’t been the easiest in the life of X Factor hopeful, Paul Akister.
But don’t fall for the hype. There are plenty of worse performers and this fact should be highlighted in the upcoming ‘Michael Jackson v Queen’ extravaganza.
Elsewhere, our man Stevi Ritchie should be safe for another week at least while even the pretty average (in our humble opinion…) Jay James is unlikely to be exiting the stage any time soon.
Here’s our rundown of the top three candidates up for the chop:
Song Choice: Michael Jackson – Don’t Blame it on the Boogie
It was too easy to write them off last week and once again we’re not sure the value lies in plumping for Only the Young to leave.
Last week’s fun rendition of Monster Mash offered something different to the competition and their next song affords the group the opportunity to repeat the trick.
Song Choice: Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now
We love an underdog and Paul certainly fits the bill in that department.
The 25-year-old singer has had his fair share of critics in the last week but it’s easy to forget he still retains one vital asset – a half-decent singing voice.
He’s going to have to loosen up and show plenty of passion to convince his doubters. But faced with this standard of competition he should pull through.
Song Choice: Michael Jackson – You are Not Alone
This could go horribly wrong. The eight-piece may have the looks but they fail to impress vocally.
You Are Not Alone is a big number and quite frankly these guys can’t be trusted to nail it.
Expect a limp performance, shaky harmonies and the very real possibility of this boy band heading for the exit.
