England v South Africa: Hosts can overcome a Boks backlash

The second instalment of England’s Autumn International campaign sees South Africa head to west London in what is being described as a must-win encounter for both sides.
England and South Africa both suffered defeats last weekend to New Zealand and Ireland respectively and now find themselves on a collision course as preparations for next year’s World Cup continue.
England, who have not beaten South Africa in 11 attempts, are the 4/5 favourites for victory, while the Springboks are 11/10 to bounce back against northern hemisphere opposition.

England have not beaten South Africa in their last 11 attempts so the recent history is stacked against them but the sides have not met in over two years.
Stuart Lancaster’s men are a stronger outfit now than they were back then and we can now safely say they can mix it with the best.
South Africa will be looking to bounce back from defeat to the Irish but England can weather any early storm and get back on the right track following last weekend’s disappointing defeat to the All Blacks.
Following their defeat to Ireland, we are expecting a huge backlash from South Africa and that could involve a really fast start from the visitors at Twickenham.
The Springboks will be fired up for their clash with England and determined to bounce back but Lancaster’s side are physically and mentally tough, as they showed against the All Blacks.
Therefore back South Africa to go in at half-time with a lead – a slender lead at that – and England to show their character by fighting back for victory.
With the same theme in mind South Africa will look to pile the pressure on England early and at 10/11 they look excellent value in the race to 10 points.
The Boks, who have made five changes to their line-up from the Ireland defeat, have won the race to 10 points in nine of the last 10 clashes with England so this looks a decent bet to be on.
