Chiefs @ Raiders: Jamaal Charles to get Kansas rolling to a win

Published:

Only two teams have won more consecutive games than the Kansas City Chiefs, while no team is suffering from a longer losing streak than the appalling Oakland Raiders.

The Chiefs, and their string of five Ws, visit the battered home of the bruised Oakland Raiders looking to put some early pressure on the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos in Thursday’s Week 12 opener.

Sat level on a 7-3 record with Peyton Manning’s mob, a victory for Alex Smith and co will give the Chiefs an early advantage over the Broncos before the latter plays the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The pair’s tussle in Week 13 will likely prove pivotal.

First though, Kansas City must get past the Raiders, who are winless through 10 games this year and have lost 16 straight; a run that stretches an entire calendar year.

Owning the best defence in league against the pass, statistically, should help form the basis of a KC win – rated as a 1/4 chance by Ladbrokes. But rather than back that skinny price, take the 5/4 on the Raiders managing under 1.5 touchdowns in the game.

Oakland are putting up just 15 points per game on average and are the only club in the league who hold a total-yards-per-game number under 300.

In the last three games their run game has totalled 138 yards. The Chiefs’ Jamaal Charles managed 21 more yards than that on his own in just his last outing.

Kansas’ offensive focal point has been in fine form of late too, scoring seven of his eight seasonal touchdowns in the last five games. He’s 3/1 to be the first player to reach the endzone and a 2/9 cert to do so at any time.
