Chelsea star leads Spanish invasion in German combi-team

Published:

While Germany were busying themselves with winning the World Cup last summer, the Spanish side whose title Joachim Low and co were claiming was dismantled and thrown on the scrap heap.

In the two months since the end of the footballing carnival in Brazil, Die Mannschaft have been double-dosing Alka-Seltzer to try and shake the hangover, to little effect.

It means when Vicente Del Bosque’s troops entertain the world champions at Estadio de Balaídos in Vigo, the men that take the field will be a collection of new faces wearing red and out-of-form medal-winners.

Spain are the 5/4 favourites to take the win, with Germany 21/10 chances and the draw available at 11/5.
