Champions League accumulator: Enjoy our Mourinho-inspired fivefold

Published:

Fresh from dazzling one and all in a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League, our Tuesday night Champions League accumulator picks have more than a whiff of the Special One about them with wins for Chelsea and Porto predicted.

The blue-adorned pair features alongside PSG, Shakhtar Donetsk and Sporting Lisbon in a fivefold available at odds of 7/1 with Ladbrokes.

Here’s all you need to know about the games ahead…

Porto to beat BATE Borisov @ 4/7

Despite a 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao, the Belarusians have largely proven to be the whipping boys of Group H, losing 7-0 and 5-0 home and away to Shakhtar Donetsk as well as previously going down 6-0 to Porto in Lisbon and with that in mind it’s difficult to look past a win for the visitors here.

PSG to beat Ajax @ 1/3

The Parisiens dominated when these two met in Amsterdam, squandering an early 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 but with the Emirates-backed club currently on a run of seven straight wins in all competitions and victors in each of their last three Champions League games, we don’t expect a repeat.

Chelsea to beat Schalke @ 3/4

Jose Mourinho’s side can seal top spot in the group with a win in Gelsenkirchen and after triumphing 3-0 on their previous trip to the Veltins-Arena last term, the in-form Pensioners must be picked to see off a Schalke side that has lost two of their last three in all competitions.

Shakhtar Donetsk to beat Athletic Bilbao @ 7/10

The Ukraine club picked up a point on their previous trip to Bilbao and with Athletic already out of the competition following three straight defeats it’s difficult to see anything other than a win for the hosts here, with Shakhtar able to clinch qualifying with a victory.

Sporting Lisbon to beat Maribor @ 3/10

Sporting breathed new life into their ailing Champions League campaign with a 4-2 win over Schalke last time out, but that will count for nothing unless they can beat a Maribor side that was thumped 6-0 by Chelsea the last time they played away from Slovenia in this competition.
