WTA Finals: Williams rout and Bouchard win tipped

Published:

The cream of the crop of women’s tennis are in action this week at the WTA Finals in Singapore and while the schedule is sparse at just two games a day there is still plenty of betting action to be had.

Wednesday’s matches see Serena Williams look to extend her unbeaten run over Simona Halep and Eugenie Bouchard attempt to do the same over Ana Ivanovic.

With Williams heavily odds-on for the win though here’s a tempting 3/1 double from James Curtis at Ladbrokes News.

Serena Williams to beat Simona Halep 2-0 @ 4/7

Such is the American’s dominance of the sport that this is just about the best price you can get on a Williams success.

The 18-time Slam winner and victor of this competition four times enjoys a 3-0 head-to-head record over the Romanian, losing just 13 games in their meetings to date.

Williams has taken the last two clashes in straight sets and while she hasn’t been her usual dominant self since claiming her sixth US Open title, the fact she didn’t drop a set at Flushing Meadows should hint at things t come here.

Eugenie Bouchard to Ana Ivanovic @ 7/4

Ivanovic goes into this tie as the 4/9 favourite but trailing Bouchard by two places in the standings and having lost the last two meetings it’s hard to see why.

The Canadian can turn it on at the big events, reaching the semi-final or better in three of the four slams this year – including a final appearance at Wimbledon – while her opponents has faltered on the big stage in 2014.

Ivanovic reached the quarter-final in Australia but that was as good as it good with third round exits in Paris and London and a second-round crash in New York.

Take the bigger price on this occasion and back Bouchard to extend her unbeaten run over the Serb.
