Spurs star’s odds to score first v Asteras get Ladbrokes leg-up

Aside from home-grown talent Harry Kane, both Tottenham’s senior strikers have yet to impress in front of goal this season, though the Europa League offers another chance for at least one of them to further their Premier League claims.

Emmanuel Adebayor should be that man. He is at least off the mark for the Lilywhites this term and the Londoners’ top scorer of last season was kept in reserve for the full 90 during the recent debacle at the Etihad.

However that does at least suggest the Togolese frontman should be reinstated from the start when Greek side Asteras Tripolis pay a visit in the Europa League next up.

In turn this adds more than a little attraction to Ladbrokes’ latest price boost.

The firm have boosted Adebayor to break the deadlock against Asteras from 10/3 to 4/1.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City man netted his only goal of the current campaign in front of the White Hart Lane faithful against QPR.

Meanwhile, the beanpole striker netted twice in one Europa League game at home to Dnipro last season en-route to his 14 goals in all competitions from only 25 appearances.

It’s also worth noting that Spurs as a collective have found the net before half time in each of their last three games.

Tottenham have been priced up as the 1/3 favourites to take a much-needed three points against the little-known Greeks, despite drawing their opening two fixtures and Asteras grabbing four points from their first two games.
