Spurs must take Soldado hit if serious about West Brom star
Published:If Tottenham are to have any hope of landing their latest transfer target, then they must be prepared to flog one of their biggest flops.
With the ridiculous fees paid for footballers these days it’s an obvious consequence that some ill-advised transfers will leave their club’s needing to make awkward financial decisions.

The next man to join the list of expensive Premier League misfits must surely be Tottenham’s £26m signing, Roberto Soldado.
The Spaniard is now a prime candidate to be shunted off the White Hart Lane books, especially with Saido Berahino the latest name on the club’s transfer wishlist.
West Brom’s most promising talent has just scored his sixth Premier League goal already this season, when notching against Manchester United, while Soldado’s missed penalty at Manchester City ensured he stays on a half-dozen league strikes since joining in summer 2013.
Naturally, the Baggies have already begun to ward off Spurs, with manager Alan Irvine stating any prospective buyers for their prize asset will have to be thinking well in excess of £15m for Berahino’s services.
It already looks a tricky deal to get done this season, though if Daniel Levy wishes to raise capital then taking a hit on their 29-year-old striker, who may only now fetch £10m, is a must.
Emmanuel Adebayor may also be struggling to find form this season, but at least his style offers something different to the poacher which Soldado was supposed to be, and Berahino is rapidly turning into.
As a result of their 4-1 thumping at the Etihad, Tottenham have drifted out to 11/2 to make the Champions League spots this season under Mauricio Pochettino.
