Simon to shine in three best bets of Shanghai Rolex Masters

Published:

On the morning of Thursday October 9th the Shanghai Masters and British tennis fans alike lost a valued friend and Scottish independence lover in Andy Murray, with the Wimbledon winner dumped out 2-1 by bandana bandit David Ferrer.

But fear not because time, and a trio of fantastic ATP Tour Tennis betting tips, is the best healer, with this particular threesome of picks awesome as individual bets and even better as a treble at odds of 35/1 with Ladbrokes.

So never mind the impending ATP Tour Finals misery in store for Murray – get your chops round these bets before the odds shorten!

Gilles Simon to beat Tomas Berdych @ 12/5

The Frenchman has been one of the stars of Beijing, having battled back from a set down to beat world no.4 Stanislas Wawrinka before seeing off Malek Jaziri in a comfortable straight sets victory that should leave him fresh for this encounter with Berdych.

His Czech opponent also cruised past inferior opposition in Richard Gasquet and Ivo Karlovic but that could lull him into a false sense of security against Simon, who has won three of the past four meetings between the pair and has already shown he is up for a fight at this tournament.

Feliciano Lopez to beat Mikhail Youzhny 2-0 @ 11/4

Despite dispatching Juan Monaco 2-1 in the last round, Youzhny spent much of his time on the court resembling tennis’s answer to Michael Douglas in Falling Down, minus the snazzy specs, and he could suffer another mental collapse when he comes up against the in-form Feliciano Lopez.

The Spaniard showed his straight sets win over Rafael Nadal was no fluke by dispatching Jon Isner in similarly impressive fashion and some early breaks of serve could see Lopez cruise to a comfortable straight sets victory over an opponent lacking the right kind of mentality for a fight.

David Ferrer to win at least one set vs Novak Djokovic @ 15/8

After some dodgy recent defeats to low ranking opposition in Victor Troicki and Marcel Granollers-Pujol, Ferrer has come out of the blocks fights in Beijing, saving a match-point against Martin Klizan – who recently beat Novak Djokovic – before recovery from a first set loss against Murray.

That still may not be enough for him to progress past Djokovic but the Spaniard should be fancied to take a set off the Serbian who lost one to Mikhail Kukushkin in the last round. Ferrer also won a set the last time he met Djokovic at the Rome Masters earlier this season.
