Shanghai Masters: Lopez, Murray and Simon included in best bets

Published:

On a dramatic day in Shanghai yesterday Rafael Nadal crashed out of the tournament at the second hurdle and this Thursday we are backing his conqueror to reach the quarter-final stage.

Feliciano Lopez was clinical against Nadal and we are backing him to edge out John Isner, while Andy Murray and Gilles Simon look set for straightforward victories.

It’s up to you whether you back the selections in singles or in a treble at odds of 8/1 but make sure you read on to find out why you don’t want to miss out on a chance to win a few quid on the action in China.

Lopez to beat Isner 2-1 @ 11/4

It’s 2-2 in the head-to-head record between John Isner and Feliciano Lopez but significantly it’s the Spaniard who has come out on top the last time these two met on a hard court.

And with Lopez full of confidence after seeing of fellow countryman Nadal, we are backing him to edge a tight contest 2-1 to land our gamble.

Murray to beat Ferrer 2-0 @ 8/13

This clash bears huge significance with both players still in the race to reach the ATP Tour Finals in London.

Both players’ chances were boosted by the withdrawal of Milos Raonic from his second round clash but the winner here will be in pole position to reach the tournament at the O2 Arena.

Andy Murray looks to be heading back to playing some of his best tennis while David Ferrer has not been in the best form in recent months.

With that in mind it’s easy to back the British number one for a straight sets victory in a repeat of the 2011 Shanghai Masters final.

Simon to beat Jaziri 2-0 @ 8/15

These two have never met on the ATP Tour before but if Gilles Simon can reproduce the form that saw him dispose of world number four Stanislas Wawrinka, then he should make short work of his Tunisian opponent.

So back the Frenchman to win in straight sets against Malek Jaziri and continue his run in Shanghai.
