Scotland v Georgia: in-form Sunderland striker set to score

Published:

After coming so close to a fantastic result against World Cup winners Germany, Scotland will be desperate to pick up all three points when they meet Georgia at Ibrox.

The hosts head into the game as the favourites for victory at 8/13 with the draw on at 11/4 but, after running the Republic of Ireland close in a 2-1 loss last time out, their Eastern European opponents should not be underestimated and are available at 9/2 for the win.

Ahead of kick-off, we’ve done some homework to bring you three of the best bets to back.

Steven Fletcher to score and Scotland to win @ 5/2

With Fletcher’s only previous goal at international level coming against Iceland, it’s high time the 27-year-old replicated his club form on the international scene and this could be the game to do it.

The former Hibs favourite was Sunderland’s star man last time out in the Premier League against Stoke, scoring twice and setting up another goal to help the Black Cats to their first win of the season and looks a good bet to find the net in a victory for the hosts.

Both teams to score and Scotland to win @ 16/5

While Gordon Strachan’s team are expected to come out on top against Georgia, don’t count against the away side making life difficult for Scotland in much the same way as they did against Ireland last time out.

It took a 90th minute winner from Aidan McGeady to see off the European minnows and with Scotland scoring and conceding in their last two outings, it’s not inconceivable to imagine a 2-1 or 3-1 victory.

Scott Brown to score anytime @ 4/1

Something of a leftfield choice given his position, Brown nevertheless boasts a solid record in front of goal for Scotland having netted in their two most recent wins in friendlies against Norway and Poland.

And after netting in Celtic’s most recent Europa League away game against big-spending Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg, it wouldn’t be a shock to see the 29-year-old come good again here.
