Price boost: Sunderland star joins Muller in hitman treble

Published:

There have already been a number of shocks in this international break thus far; Spain losing to Slovakia, Netherlands struggling against Kazakhstan, England only scoring five against San Marino, to name but three.

However, we’re expecting Ireland, Scotland and Germany to all do the business against modest opposition, and Ladbrokes have picked out the likely scorers in those games in a price-boosted treble.

Robbie Keane, Thomas Muller and Steven Fletcher can all be backed to score at a price of 7/1, rather than 11/2.

The Bayern Munich forward has started the season in typical consistent style for club and country, betting five goals in 10 games for both.

That tally includes a strike in his most recent match – Bayern’s 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League – and a brace for Germany in his last international appearance.

The World Cup winners play Poland in their next match, a side they never lost to, winning 14 of their 17 match-ups.

Meanwhile, Keane will look to his record scorer tally for Ireland against the smallest side in Europe – newly-minted UEFA member Gibraltar – who shipped seven in their loss to Poland last time out.

The veteran striker is a minuscule 3/10 to score at any time in this match, and is in excellent form having knocked in braces in each of his past two matches for LA Galaxy.

Another man who scored a double when last in club colours is Sunderland’s Fletcher, who scored twice as the Black Cats beat Stoke 3-1 just before the international break.

The striker is 6/4 to net at any time as Scotland host Georgia, who have lost seven of their past eight away games in all competitions.

Both Keane and Fletcher look nailed on to bag at home against poor opponents, while Muller’s superb recent form for his country – he has scored eight in 11 international games in 2014 – makes this treble a very tempting proposition indeed.
