Premier League Half-Term Reports: Palace up for fight

Giddy highs: Everyone is chipping in with the goals for Palace so far this season, with eight different players registering in their seven games so far.

With the likes of Dwight Gayle, Frazier Campbell and Mile Jedinak in form and Marouane Chamakh to return scoring shouldn’t be an issue at Selhurst Park this term.

Highlight so far has to be coming from 1-0 down to beat Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park.

Crushing lows: Considering the dramatic way in which the Eagles started the campaign – losing Tony Pulis and announcing the unpopular appointment of Neil Warnock – Palace haven’t suffered anything approaching a crushing blow as yet.

They bounced back from two opening defeats to go on a four game unbeaten run. However the 0-0 draw with Burnley could come back to haunt them when the points are tallied up in May!

Shining Star: Mile Jedinak

Captain fantastic Jedinak has already chipped in with two goals from midfield and his presence has been behind most of what’s been good at Palace this season.

He has put an arm of encouragement round Wilfried Zaha and should help get the best from the winger and others around the club.

Will be sorely missed when representing Australia in the Asia Cup in January.

Biggest Disappointment: Wilfried Zaha

After netting the equaliser in the 3-3 draw with Newcastle during a 20-minute cameo Palace fans thought that Zaha had returned from Old Trafford as if nothing had changed.

Unfortunately the winger looks to have been jaded by his Red Devils experience and hasn’t managed to hold down a first-team berth as yet.

Best bet for the rest of the season: To Stay Up @ 11/4

Final Thoughts: Palace have recovered from the blow of losing Pulis better than expected and are already five points better off than they were at this stage of last season.

The Top 10 looks beyond them, however, with recent results against Burnley and Hull pointing to another season flirting with relegation.

That said, Warnock looks to be getting the best of his front men and a successful fight against the drop looks the best bet for punters this term.
