NFL Power Rankings: Cowboys challenging Broncos’ supremacy

Published:

Approaching the half-way point of the NFL season there has been more than a few surprises along the way.

The Seattle Seahawks look like defending their Super Bowl crown is beyond them, while the San Francisco 49ers are an internal mess leaving some new names among our top-five prospects to claim the Vince Lombardi trophy come February:

Denver Broncos – 5/2

Peyton Manning just broke the NFL record for TD passes and is showing no signs of slowing down. His offense is as formidable as last season, but an improved defence is pushing the Broncos into clear water in the swim for the Super Bowl.

Dallas Cowboys – 12/1

Six wins on the bounce for America’s Team have propelled the Cowboys into the thick of the championship circle from the back of the pack.

Their running back, DeMarco Murray, leads the league in rushing yards by a whopping 372 while quarterback Tony Romo is enjoying revitalized fortunes.

The Cowboys are currently the team to beat.

Green Bay Packers – 8/1

The NFC North is proving to be an almighty tussle with the Packers tying the Detroit Lions at the top of the tree with a 5-2 record.

The Green and Gold get the edge in these rankings thanks to a four-win streak that’s seen them score 145 points and ship just 68.

San Diego Chargers – 16/1

Like the Cowboys, the Chargers are putting an unexpectedly formidable record together in the AFC West, which stands at 5-2 after last week’s loss to Kansas City.

That defeat, which ended a run of five straight wins, stops the Bolts from holding a higher slot in this list and their Week 8 matchup with the Broncos (a divisional rival) is both mouth watering and pivotal.

Indianapolis Colts – 12/1

Another team on a momemtum-building run of wins is the Colts, who’ve triumphed in their last five to top the AFC South.

Andrew Luck leads the NFL (with Manning) in tossing 19 TD passes this year and behind their third-year QB, the Colts look a force.
