McGregor is the best bet to score for Celtic v Dinamo Zagreb

Published:

The Bhoys are back in town this Thursday with a Europa League encounter that screams home win to everyone other than the most diehard Dinamo Zagreb fans amongst us.

A tempting 23/20 for victory with Ladbrokes ahead of kick-off, Celtic won’t be taking anything for granted against their Croatian opponents after disappointing Champions League qualification encounters against the likes of Legia Warsaw and NK Maribor.

Their Zagreb visitors are available at 11/5 to pick up a surprise away win while the draw can be backed at 5/2  with the red-topped bookmaker.

However, for those seeking a little more value from their match day bets the following three picks look tempting to say the least.

Callum McGregor to score first @ 8/1

One of the few shining lights from an otherwise indifferent start to the season at Celtic Park, McGregor is starting to make an impact at Parkhead after a season spent on loan at Notts County where he scored 12 goals in 36 appearances.

He hit the ground running in qualification for the Champions League, scoring the opener in games against KR, Legia Warsaw and Maribor and could be the one to rise to the occasion when the Croatians come to Glasgow.

Celtic to win and both teams to score @ 10/3

Ronny Deila still has plenty of work to do at Parkhead with a leaky defence one of his big problems. Efe Ambrose continues to look a shadow of the player he was last season while Virgil van Dijk appears to be angling for a move away from the club.

Those factors have contributed to Celtic’s poor defensive record which has seen the Hoops concede in 11 of their last 12 competitive games. While they may have enough to see off Dinamo, don’t be surprised to see both teams get on the scoresheet.

El Arbi Hillel Soudani to score anytime @ 13/5

Current Europa League top scorer, Soudani was the star of the Croatian giants’ 5-1 win over group whipping boys Astra last time out in this competition with a memorable first-half hat-trick against the Romanian minnows.

The Algeria international followed up that fine performance with a brace against fellow Europa League competitors Rijeka in the Croatian league and could have the final word when these two teams meet – whether it’s a decisive one remains to be seen.
