Man United to team Falcao with Colombian team mate

Despite the embarrassment of attacking riches at Old Trafford following Louis van Gaal’s unprecedented shopping spree the Manchester United boss plans on adding to his front line this winter.

The Dutchman is a known admirer of Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado and could finally make his move after the Fiorentina star was given a clean bill of health.

Cuadrado, a Colombia team mate of United’s on-loan striker Radamel Falcao, has overcome his early season injury concerns and could now be the subject of a January bid from Van Gaal.

Cuadrado’s impressive displays at the World Cup have seen the Italians offer him an improved contract but reports suggest a £30m release clause will remain intact, encouraging United in their pursuit.

According to the Daily Express, United will not be put off by the asking price and will make their move once the transfer window opens in January.

Cuadrado has hit 22 goals in 88 games since joining La Viola and with United sending Nani on loan to Sporting Lisbon and losing faith in Ashley Young the 26-year-old could soon be linking up with the likes of Falcao, Angel Di Maria and Robin van Persie in the United attack.

The Red Devils won back-to-back games for the first time under Van Gaal against Everton at the weekend and now occupy fourth spot in the Premier League table.

The odds on them remaining in the top four come the end of the season have shortened from 8/13 to 8/15 in the wake of the Toffees victory, while the price on a successful title tilt has come in to 14/1 from 16/1.

Cuadrado netted in Fiorentina’s win over Inter Milan at the weekend and should he maintain his form could have more than just United tailing him in the transfer window.

However, Van Gaal believes the presence of Falcao in the north-west will be the ace up his sleeve and will see the Red Devils beat off any competition for his services.
