Man United in for Ghana star and PSV youngster

Manchester United are often linked with some for the biggest names in word football, but increasingly so are also being attached to players at the other end of the market.

The Red Devils were recently linked with a £3m move for Feyenoord centre back Terence Kongolo and now reports suggest assistant manager Ryan Giggs was recently sent to scout a striker who once turned out for Forest Green Rovers’ reserves.

Giggs was recently spotted Turkey where it is believed he was running the rule over Trabzonspor forward Abdul Majeed Waris.

The 23-year-old signed for Forest Green while studying in England but has gone on to bigger and better things, becoming the Swedish league’s top scorer before signing for Spartak Moscow and then the Turkish club.

He bagged nine goals in 16 games while on loan at Valenciennes in France last season and is well thought of on the continent.

The likes of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao will not be threatened by the news, but United could launch a bid to provide competition for up and coming strikers James Wilson and Will Keane.

Eslewhere, the Old Trafford club are set to commence battle with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to sign the latest Belgian youth star Zakaria Bakkali.

The 18-year-old was making good progress at PSV Eindhoven but has been forced to play in the U21 side by manager Philip Cocu after refusing to sign a contract extension with the Eredivise outfit.

The majority of Bakkali’s senior international teammates are based in the Premier League and with United boasting Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini the old Trafford club will hope to jump to the head of the queue.

United face noisy neighbours Manchester City at the Etihad this weekend and go into the tie as 3/1 outsiders, while the Citizens are the 5/6 favourites and the draw can be backed at 14/5.
