Man United v Everton: Falcao opener one of 3 best bets

Published:

Despite going through testing times already this season Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal faces arguably his toughest assignment yet as Red Devils boss when Everton head to Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Toffees have won three of the last four meetings between the sides and after doing the double over United last term will be confident ahead of this early kick off.

Nevertheless, United go into the tie as 4/6 favourites, with Everton priced at 17/4 and the draw available at 3/1.

However, there are plenty more tempting markets to ponder and Ladbrokes News’ James Curtis has picked out three of the best.

Radamel Falcao to score first @ 7/2 (or anytime at 4/5)

The Colombian may have drawn a blank from his three United outings thus far but has only gone four games without a goal once since 2011.

It’s not as if the striker hasn’t been pulling his weight either, chipping in with two assists already and seeing a spectacular effort against Leicester come crashing back off the bar.

Twelve of the player’s last 17 goals have come when Falcao has played on home turf and he looks primed to finally break his duck here.

Leighton Baines to score anytime @ 5/1

Many could be tempted to back the England man to net the opener at 16/1, especially after he did just that last time the sides met.

But taking the risk out for an anytime goal looks the way to go with the left back on penalty and free-kick duties for the Toffees.

Baines has netted two goals from his last four games and at 5/1 is simply too good to ignore.

United to win and both teams to score @ 19/10

With the odds on a straight United win somewhat prohibitive the win with both sides to score market is a tempting alternative.

The Red Devils’ dazzling attacking line-up should cut through an Everton side that has kept just one clean sheet in 14 games with relative ease.

However, United’s own defensive shortcomings are well documented and with the hosts keeping just two clean sheets in 10 games expect them to breached en route to victory here.
