Judy Murray favourite for the Strictly Come Dancing axe

Published:

Judy Murray is the 13/8 favourite with Ladbrokes to be the next celebrity to get the boot from BBC1 show Strictly Come Dancing.

The tennis coach, and mother to two-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray, has so far escaped the dreaded dance off but could be set for the axe if she continues to produce wooden routines alongside her partner Anton du Beke.

And it may just be the popularity of the much-loved Du Beke that is keeping her alive in the show but a poor Tango on Saturday night could be the last straw for Murray in the competition.

The third elimination looks like a three-way battle between Murray, Bargain Hunt presenter Tim Wonnacott and Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills.

Wonnacott is 9/4 to leave the show, while Mills is 3/1 to Waltz his way through the exit door but his strong backing from Radio 1 listeners should be enough to see him survive another week.

At the other end of the leaderboard the bookmaker still cannot separate popstar Frankie Bridge and Eastenders actor Jake Wood at the head of the market to lift the Glitterball trophy.

The pair are both 5/2 to win the competition after a string of impressive performances on the opening three shows.

Pixie Lott and Caroline Flack are next in the betting at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively with Mark Wright and Thom Evans both 16/1.

But with the girls dominating the top of the leaderboard (apart from Mr Wood) in the opening weeks of the series it’s no surprise to see odds of 1/2 for a female to win the show.
