Ismail Mohammed’s charge picked to Educate his rivals at York

Published:

As the flat season swings into the Cesarewitch meeting, the form should all be mounting up, and it should be getting easier to spot those winners. Well, in theory.

Nevertheless here at Ladbrokes News we are to try and help you secure some extra funds.

We’ve picked out four selections in the pick of today’s racing, ideally combined in a Lucky 15 (Four singles, four trebles, six doubles, and one fourfold), to maximise profit.

Should all four land you could be looking at just shy of a whopping £2,000 payout from a £15 total outlay!

So, here are the picks…

Lacan – York 13:50 – 6/1

Clive Cox’s three-year-old was pitched in at the deep end on handicap debut, when running well to finish in mid-division in the Silver Cambridgeshire.

He was 2l behind the winner that day GM Hopkins when the pair met on the selection’s debut, and subsequently went on to be beaten a short head by next time out Group 3 winner, Wannabe Yours.

He got off the mark nicely at the third time of asking, and could have more improvement to come.

Future Empire – Newmarket 14:05 – 5/2

Some smart types have won this race in recent times with Irish Derby winner, Trading Leather picking up the prize in 2012, and St Leger hero Kingston Hill taking the honours 12 months ago.

This Godolphin colt was narrowly beaten in a Group 3 last time out, and has the form in the book to right that wrong here.

He won his maiden in authoritative style, and that form has worked out well, with five subsequent winners behind him that day.

The same can’t be the said for the form of some of his rivals though, which look decidedly patchy.

Educate – York 14:20 – 8/1

Sent off as top weight for the Cambridgeshire, Ismail Mohammed’s charge ran well to finish ninth in the contest he was successful in last year.

He was dropped 1lb for that run, and now has 7lb claimer Ahmad Al Subousi taking the ride, so could be well handicapped to land the spoils here.

Throw in that he has won his last three races on soft or heavy, including over course and distance here, and he looks a good bet.

Matmu – York 14:55 – 7/2

Like Future Empire, this one has shown to be capable of holding his own in the level when behind the potentially top class Limato last time out.

He was 5l clear of expensive purchase The Great War in the race before that, a horse that went onto win a Listed race in Ireland.

Some of these have come up short when stepped up into Pattern company of late, so Tim Easterby is backed to pick up a nice prize at one of his local tracks.
