Darts’ World Grand Prix: Bunting back among our fancied punts
Published:It took two days, but the first upset at the World Grand Prix saw Richie Burnett knock out the fifth seed, Simon Whitlock, to progress to the second round.
Now that duck has been broken, we tip another high-ranking player to make his exit in the first of our three bets for the fourth day in Dublin:
Having helped us land a winning tip on day two at the Grand Prix, we hop back on to the Bunting saddle for his battle with beaten World Championship finalist Wright.
Wright had a far superior three-dart average compared to Bunting in the first round, throwing at a 95.25 rate compared to the Englishman’s 81.87, however he has struggled to get the better of the current BDO champ this year.
The Bullet has toppled Snakebite in all three of their 2014 meetings, the latest of which came as recently as last month.
Like Bunting, Jenkins was another of our successful recommendations in the first round, but we have to oppose him now that he’s up against an in-form Burnett.
In knocking out Whitlock with a 2-1 scoreline, the Prince of Wales is in the second round of the Dublin tournament for the first time in two years.
The last time he hurdled the first he registered his best finish in the tournament with a semi-final run. He’s also bettered Jenkins the last two times they’ve met and in four of their six career matches.
As two stalwarts of the oche, Barney and the King have crossed tungsten on a fair few occasions and it’s the Dutchman who undoubtedly has the upper hand.
He’s prevailed in 18 of the 26 battles the pair have had and showed his fighting spirit to comeback from a set down to defeat Dave Chisnall on day two.
