Darts’ World Grand Prix: BDO champ Bunting among second day trio
Published:For the second day running at the World Grand Prix, there are some tasty battles set to adorn Dublin’s Citywest Hotel oche, with Dave Chisnall’s clash with Raymond van Barneveld easily the pick of the action.
With both men inseparable in the betting at 5/6 though, the match doesn’t make our list of three best bets for the tournament’s second act, with a perennial runner-up, a Phil Taylor conqueror and the current BDO champ all preferred:
Jenkins has claimed a silver medal in this tournament twice in his career, suffering heartbreak in consecutive years in 2006 and 2007.
His 2014 campaign has been promising, winning one title and finishing runner-up for another three. He enjoys a 9-2 head-to-head record over his Belgian opponent and has bested him three times in their four meetings this season.
The man who famously ended Phil Taylor’s World Championship in the first round last December comes into the Grand Prix in flying form.
Smith has won all of his last 11 outings, a run that has seen him topple Justin Pipe, Andy Hamilton and Michael van Gerwen in his last three matches.
He battled Winstanley for the first time in his career earlier this year, and triumphed 6-2.
There aren’t many men in the Dublin field more perfect for an out-of-sorts Bunting to face than Baxter.
The current BDO champion has lost all of his past three outings but faces a man that has only won twice in the last nine and achieved his best finish in this competition, a semi-final trip, all the way back in 2004.
